New methods of infection control were established to prevent the occupational spread of HIV and Hepatitis B viruses. In 1990, various states extended their existing regulations to conform with guidelines. On March 6, Federal OSHA's new "vertical standard," 29 CFR 1910.1030 became law. This program concentrates on the risks of bloodborne pathogens and the precautions necessary. This course is directed at occupational exposures of bloodborne pathogens.
