Save time and money by combining the Manager and Employee versions of the newest harassment training.

One basic truth is self-evident and something every employee needs to understand: a courteous workplace is more pleasant and productive for everyone.

This message is brought home in our newest award-winning training series. The series clearly shows that bad behavior is not OK. Whether it is defined as illegal harassment or not, whether it applies to sex, religion, or anything beyond…; harassing misconduct should not be tolerated in the workplace.

The videos are composed of a series of compelling stories. The broadcast quality employee version of the films explains the law in great detail. By showing the potential harm that can be caused by unwelcome misconduct, the film is imaginative and personalizes the value of inclusiveness.

Examples of bad behavior included in the film:
  • Two colleagues are offended by the inappropriate dress and flirtatious behavior of other coworkers.
  • A client puts pressure on a company rep for a “quid pro quo” exchange.
  • Two guys on a city crew mistreat a “less macho” coworker.
  • An embarrassing photo makes the rounds in a hospital through social media.
  • A religious coworker is excluded on a construction site
  • Friction in a restaurant kitchen leads to insults for a busser from another country.
  • Retaliation takes a subtle form but is, nonetheless, against company policy—and against the law..

Although supervisors and managers can fall victim to harassment they have the added responsibility of maintaining a harassment-free work environment. The employee program is made up of a series of compelling stories that reenact true to life situations of harassment. The manager version explains to supervisors their responsibility for preventing harassment and the potential harm that can result from unwelcome misconduct. The steps they should take in meeting these responsibilities are presented through specific instructions.

Managers will learn how to:
  • Respond to complaints of inappropriate behavior
  • Periodically conduct workplace audits, looking for inappropriate items
  • Conduct investigations or assist HR/Legal, depending on organizational structure
  • Inform employees that retaliation will not be tolerated
  • Be aware of what affects their workgroup, including improper use of social media

The short scenes portray supervisors who nip these problems in the bud; they detect a potential problem and step in early before the problems escalate. Throughout the films, an emphasis is put on the fact that a respectful workplace is more pleasant and productive. This type of atmosphere makes the manager’s job much less complicated.

Greg Dehm and Stephanie Schaeffer, our attorney moderators, are featured in both versions. They provide professional commentary on the stories in a frank and open discussion. Concise directions are provided to managers concerning their specific responsibilities.

The positive message in these films is something employees and management will take to heart – everyone shares in the responsibility of maintaining a civil, respectful workplace. This makes going to work more enjoyable for everybody!
